(.PDF)PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 Work Included Provide electric door operator(s) of size and capacity recommend-ed for door(s) as provided
by door manufacturer, with electric motor and factory pre-wired motor controls, starter, planetary gear-reduction unit, electromagnetic disc brake, clutch, remote-controlled station(s), control devices, and accessories
required for proper operation. 1.02 Related Work Opening preparation, miscellaneous or structural metal work, access, field electrical wiring, wire, conduit, fuses and disconnect switches are in the Scope of
Work of other divisions or trades. 1.03 Quality Assurance In accordance with accepted quality assurance guidelines for motor-operated doors, both the door and electric operator (optional) shall be
manufactured by a single-source producer of door systems, such as by Overhead Door Corporation. PART 2 PRODUCT 2.01 General
The electric door operator shall be the (heavy-duty) (standard-duty) ArmorDrive modular door control system as manufactured by Overhead Door Corporation, and consisting of a powertrain and mounting kit suitable
for the type and size of door specified. 2.02 Motor Motor shall be 1/2 horsepower (1 horsepower), continuous-duty, with quick reverse and integral thermal overload, quick-connect
plug-in harness, and auto-configured high- and low-voltage windings when inserted into control board. Motor frame shall comply with (NEMA 48 open drip-proof construction on 1/2 horsepower single-phase unit) (NEMA 56
open drip-proof construction on 1/2 horsepower three-phase unit) (1 horsepower single-phase unit)(1 horsepower three-phase unit). 2.03 Reduction
Differential planetary geartrain shall be capable of producing a 40:1 reduction ratio and handling high-shock load capacities of 300 percent of rated loads. Gears shall be factory-lubricated for life with
synthetic grease. Torque handling capability for the standard 1/2 horsepower motor shall have at least 150 ft-lbs max, 50 ft-lbs typical. (Torque handling for the heavy-duty 1 horse-power, motor shall have at least 450
ft-lbs max, 150 ft-lbs typical). 2.04 Duty Cycle Duty cycle, in terms of number of door operations per hour, shall accommodate heavy usage, up to 60 cycles per hour under a large
constant load. 2.05 Clutch Adjustable friction disc type. Clutch to be located at output drive side of geartrain. 2.06 Brakes
Brake shall be 24 volt DC electromagnetic disc type. Stopping torque shall be rated at 36 in-lbs minimum, and 50-75 in-lbs typical. Brake system shall provide a progressive brake rate adjustment and
quick-connect plug-in harness connection to the control board. 2.07 Limit Switch Limit system shall be adjustable by push-button control, and allow 0.15" @ 12"/sec
accuracy/repeatability (0.38 cm @ 0.30 cm/sec). Limit system shall provide a quick-connect, plug-in harness con-nection to the control board. 2.08 Electronic Control System
Electronic control system shall be a microprocessor-based system with the logic control circuitry and motor drive circuitry integrated on a single board. System shall be capable of monitoring and reporting on a
variety of operating conditions, including: Current operating status; current error status, if applicable; Motor thermal switch status; External interlock switch status; Power supply status; Brake activation status;
Motor movement status; Hoist interlock switch status 2.09 Mounting Kit The mounting kit shall contain all required brackets, couplings and hardware to mount the powertrain unit
component as a (trolley/drawbar for a standard lift sectional door); (wall-mount, chain coupling for a (standard lift) (full ver tical) or (high lift) sectional door); (wall-mount, direct shaft-to-shaft coupling) for a
(standard lift) (full ver tical) or (high lift) sectional door; or (headplate chain coupling for a (rolling door) (security grille). 2.10 Release
Release shall be a right-hand (left-hand) mounted, toggle-type mechanism with an integrated interlock switch and single cable operation. 2.11 Hoist (optional)
Right-hand (left-hand) mounted hoist shall be capable of yielding a 4:1 reduction ratio, and designed such that there is no hoist rotation during motor-driven door operation. Hoist shall use a smooth hand chain.
(Optional governor shall be employed to control the rate of descent). 2.12 Entrapment Protection A. Overhead Door Corporation recommends the installation of an external
reversing device for all electrically operated commercial doors. If a sensing edge or some other reversing device is not installed, a constant contact control switch must be used to close the door. We recommend a Fail
Sale electric sensing edge that will not allow the door to close if the sensing edge is damaged or not working properly. B. The control system shall have provisions to connect such entrap-ment protection devices
(electric sensing edge) (pneumatic sensing edge) (photoelectric sensor) and to provide constant contact control operation in lieu of such devices. 2.13 Accessories (optional) A. Timer Close Kit: Kit shall provide the operator with auxiliary control inputs, auxiliary safety inputs, an auxiliary power output and an automatic door closing feature with a user selectable time delay.
Safety inputs are to be enabled or disabled using the keypad. B. Auxiliary Output Kit: Kit shall provide operator with a nominal 24 VDC power output fused at 300 mA and several sets of dry relay contacts that are
microprocessor controlled. Each relay output circuit to include an LED to indicate the status of the output. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 Execution The
ArmorDrive shall be installed in accordance with Overhead Door Corporation instructions and standards. Installation will be authorized Overhead Door Corporation representatives. |
