Celebration in Palm Springs

Overhead Door™ Brand Honors 95 Years

Each year, Overhead Door™ Distributors come together for meetings across the country. While every year is always fun and exciting, this year was especially memorable for all of us as we used the opportunity to celebrate our heritage over the past 95 years. It was a time to reflect on our history and look toward our future. We asked Heather Meiner, new Overhead Door brand manager for to share what the experience was like as a guest blogger!

Welcome to the Overhead Door Family,"  this was how everyone greeted me as I started my new position as the OHD Brand Manager a little more than four weeks ago. Being in the corporate world for almost 20 years, I was a little skeptical of the "family" concept. That was until I attended the 95th Anniversary celebration and distributor's meeting in Palm Springs last week.

At first arrival I could not help but be overwhelmed by the Overhead Door™ Brand messaging. There was no doubt we were taking over the place. From flags at the entrance way, graphics on every surface possible and hotel staff wearing shirts with the Overhead Door ribbon, all our guests were welcomed to say the least.

As the opening reception began I realized I wasn't attending a meeting, I was attending a family reunion with 400 members. Old friends were laughing, the next generation of distributors was reminiscing about how they attended the events as kids and everyone welcomed this new girl, me, with open arms.

Throughout the week I would attend education sessions, meet impersonators for Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe, be inspired by guest speakers, talk about some great new marketing tools, dance, ride a Ferris wheel, eat amazing food and laugh until my cheeks hurt.

The celebration was full of memorable activities, but the one thing I will remember the most is the people and the pride that everyone has in this business and in this family. To meet families that were third and fourth generation distributors, best friends who met at the 90th celebration and spouses who worked beside each other every day, was by far the most impactful of the events for me. Thank you for letting me a part of your family reunion. Next time, perhaps at the 100th, I will have stories of my own to share.
