Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on HGTV is back and better than ever by gracing our screens with a new spin. The reboot showcased heartwarming stories, passionate volunteers and well-deserved renovations for families who give back to their communities. The episodes featured breathtaking interior, exterior and landscaping renovations.

A respected teacher in his hometown of Covina, California, Jeff Holtzclaw has touched the lives of hundreds of students in the community. Following an accident that left him disabled with a prosthetic leg, the family's home quickly became a space that was too difficult for him to navigate. With his community by their side, the Extreme Makeover team helped to beautifully remodel the Holtzclaw's ranch house to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and ensure accessibility.

To complete this accessible ranch upgrade, the garage needed to be large enough to be ADA-compliant. With the help of Overhead Door Company of Los Angeles Basin™, the installation of our large Courtyard Collection® Model 7560 garage door added a striking touch without compromising their needs. The white garage door with matching white trims featured Stockton double-obscured glass windows to provide a clean finish.

One year after battling colon cancer, Thom Washington stood cancer-free alongside his family. While dealing with health issues, the family remained true to their desire to give back to their community through their mentorship program, Engage the Vision. Their community and the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team rallied together to provide this family a fresh start to continue doing what they love.

With a front-facing garage, it was essential that the family have a seamless garage door to give their home the modern midcentury-inspired curb appeal they were looking for. Installed by Overhead Door Company of Los Angeles Basin™, our white Thermacore® Model 5740 insulated garage doors, feature flush paneling and clear, long double windows, was the perfect addition to the family home. This door not only satisfied the home's new aesthetic but offered durability and thermal comfort.

Veterans and lifelong friends, Mario Merlos and Ernesto Olivares have dreamt of homeownership for themselves and their families. To provide affordable housing for veterans and offer a built-in support system, these friends wanted to create a new community to help give a smoother transition for veterans and their families. With the support of the Extreme Makeover team, Homes 4 Families and hundreds of volunteers, their new modern duplex is the first in their community.

This fresh duplex required garage doors for two garages to accommodate both families. Overhead Door Company of Antelope Valley™ installed two white Thermacore® Model 5740 insulated garage doors with a V10 panel design, allowing each family to have a thermally-efficient, durable garage door that was built to last. Our garage doors offer soundproofing benefits, which the Olivares family took advantage of by turning their garage into a band space.

The Reeder Family

Following the tragic loss of his wife, firefighter Nick Reeder and his family sacrificed privacy and space for affordability while they grieved. Now, with the help of the Extreme Makeover team and an extensive firefighter support network, this family was given a chance to start fresh in a new comfortable home that honors their past while promising happiness for the future.

Their new rustic mountain oasis-styled home featured an Overhead Door™ garage door as the focal point to their stunning curb appeal. Our walnut finished Thermacore® Model 5740 with Stockton 2 (8 lite) windows with obscure glass was installed by Overhead Door Company of Fresno™.

During this season, we were touched by the heartwarming stories from these incredible families. These renovations were much deserved, and we are thrilled to have been a part of a fresh start for these families.
